All-District Honors Band Audition Information
Requirements for the All-District Honor Band Audition are as follows:
- Prepared solo from the list below.
- Scales: Concert G, C, F, B-flat, E-flat, and A-flat major and the chromatic scale. Memorized. These scales should be played in the same pattern written on their scale sheets that we use in class.
- Snare Drum: Required Rudiments page instead of scales.
- Timpani: Tuning instead of scales.
- Sight Reading: Students will be presented with a brief selection of music and given 30 seconds to scan over it. After the 30 second preview period students may find their starting pitch and must play the selection.
Students should consult the resources link at the bottom of the page when preparing for their audition. There are videos/recordings of professional musicians playing the required solos and sometimes scale requirements for their instrument.
